Your Garage Door Color Is a Huge Part of Your Home’s Appeal

Rainbow of colors

How much time and effort have you put into choosing your garage door color? If you are like many out there, you probably haven’t thought too much about it at all. You just figure you’ll choose white and be done with it. However, this could be a mistake. Your garage door is one of the largest elements of your home, and it can affect the overall look and curb appeal of your property, and may even affect its value. Choosing the right color is actually quite important. This is true of the garage door, just as much as it is of the house color.

How to Choose a Good Color

Is white the right choice for you? It might be, but putting in just a bit more thought and effort can go a long way into adding some style to your home. Consider the color of your home and choose a garage door color that offers a bit of contrast. White might be nice if you have a gray home, for example. If you have a stucco or brick home, then white might work quite well, too. Do not feel forced into white though! Some of the other popular colors out there include black, gray, charcoal, brown, beige, and even blue and green. In fact, you have a veritable rainbow of colors available if you so choose!

If you have a white home, for example, you might want to choose a color to add a bit of excitement to the look of your home. It could help to add contrast, which is always nice. If your home is already a nice color, such as gray or blue, then white might work quite well. It can garner some visual interest. If you do not want to add any additional attention to your property, then you could always choose the same color as your home. Thus, a gray door could work well with a gray house. Some subtle variations, such as a darker charcoal might work well, too.

Other Options

In addition to all of the various paint colors that are out there and available, you do have some other options as well. For example, you might want to go with a nice wooden garage door instead. These can be a great choice, and it could really make your garage really stand out. Simply having some classic wood grain with a nice stain is a great option for some homes. Others might find it beneficial to choose anodized aluminum instead.

Those who want something that’s different should feel free to choose a nice, bold color that matches their personality. It’s possible to add some warmth to the look and feel of the home with color as well. Brown and certain shades of red are a good example of this. Do not rush into a decision regarding the color of your garage door. Take your time and find what works the best for your surroundings and your personality.
